Hello! I’m Tara…

The baker behind Bourbon & Butter/The Sugar Shed. B & B started as a fun, creative side project for me. I have always loved baking and baked professionally for 10 years before switching professions for a while. During that time I traveled abroad, met super interesting people, and learned a lot about myself and the world, but I always missed baking. 

After being encouraged by friends and family I obtained my residential kitchen license in December of 2022. I created a menu of treats that changed weekly and sold them out of an honor system shed. In a world where everything is automated, I love providing a little throwback to simpler times. And having faith in people at a time when we are bombarded with news that tells us to do the opposite. 

I pride myself on coming up with new, interesting, complex flavors no one else is offering while also mixing in some classics. Always made from scratch with quality ingredients, these fresh-baked treats are truly a labor of love. 

As demand has grown I quit my full-time job to dedicate all of my time to the shed, but I have no plans or desire to grow into a larger entity or storefront. I will stay small. I will strive to be unique. And I will not compromise quality for quantity.
